Character Information and Background
Matt Trihus, Bill’s younger “brother”, was just a normal boy growing up in the United Demesos. His actual history is fairly bland, save one interesting event: his family’s adoption of “Bill Trihus” back in 1992. This event is a closely guarded secret of the Trihus family, and they refuse to explain the circumstances and reasons for adopting the young boy who poses more then a few questions.
Matt was not very well known for anything until he seemingly spontaneously invented the TimeTravel1000 and 2000 models and unveiled them at the Hyperborean Fair. Those machines are still the subject of intense research and development, particularly by the military who is still trying to build another working model despite the apparent lack of Eonite left on Micras. No one knows how the machine works except Matt, and he is not saying.
After the first Control of Destiny campaign ended, Matt worked on building a time machine that did not require an Eonite source. He finally declared time travel an impossibility, however, he used the basis of his studies to form the DimensiaCom Exploration Research and Application (DERA) laboratories of Kajar, where radical research in very odd fields still takes place today.
Personality and Skills
Matt is the technical brains of the group. Although Jason has the skills to use most technical equipment and AI has memory banks for specific information on their function, Matt is the only CoD team member that truly understands how these devices work. His experience and interest with technology makes him the ideal team member to tackle building a new communications system or fixing an unruly computer.
Deep behind his knowledgeable exterior, Matt is a good hearted person that cares deeply for Bill. Although they are not truly brothers, they have been together for a very long time and sure act enough like brothers to fool anyone that does not know better. Matt’s calm approach to problems helps counteract Bill’s frustration at times, although sometimes Matt can overanalyze a situation.
Matt uses a home-made laser sword for melee combat. The laser sword is a difficult weapon to use. The sword's "blade" is made up from a cutting laser that is manipulated by shield fields. The laser winds around itself in an unusual repeating pattern, giving the impression of a constant blade of about 3 feet in length. The beam can pass through other laser swords (making Star Wars-esque laser sword battles impossible) and can cut many things, although it does take time to penetrate any surface due to technical issues. A laser sword also has very little weight, making it easy to swing too hard. All in all, laser sword combat is very different from normal sword combat, making a laser sword exceptionally dangerous to an unskilled user.
