Lyle The Locomotive is an Independent Works series by the forum's resident transgender Satanist, Stepneydudette. Although no new stories have been written for it for more than two months, Stepneydudette has confirmed that more are in the works. The series is one of Stepneydudette's longest-running to date.

Characters

- Lyle, the staple character. He is owned supposedly by the NCB, working specifically at the coal mine where he meets the other engines (being the coal mine pilot, he does not leave the mine, except for when he is going home - apparently he does not actually live at the coal mine.). He is based upon a privately-owned 0-6-0 tank engine that ran with the name "Littleton" and was used in the Cannock mine area.

- Hilary, her prototype currently unknown - she has ranged from a Great Western Dean Goods, an SECR 01 and an LNER B12. Stepneydudette is still deciding her prototype as of today. She works as a mixed goods engine on the main line, and seems to be the only one oblivious to Stirling's constant complaining.

- Stirling, the oldest engine on the railway. Based upon a Caledonian Sterling Single (hence the name), he supposedly served in some kind of war according to a recent story. He is frequently ordering the other engines around, often this backfires and he gets his come-uppance for being so strict and uptight. Of course, engines feel it is just as good to ignore his rampant non-stop complaining and continue doing jobs how they feel necessary. He has an annoying cousin called Lawrence.

- Geordie/Scot, the twins. Based upon a model of a double-sided diesel, the two are literally conjoined twins, despite one of them having a thick Scottish accent and the other a Tyneside-style voice. The two argue frequently, however, perhaps due to brotherly love, they always put aside their differences later. Often one of them will have a problem and the other will assure them that nothing will go wrong - of course, something DOES go wrong, often to the one who was confident that everything would go swimmingly.

- Irwin, an experimental engine. Has no real prototype, and is in fact a new design by Stepneydudette herself. Originally he was unhappy with his existance and was upset about his shape, but after stopping an accident at his own expense he was rebuilt. He is now far happier, and has become part of the main fleet of characters.
