He first discovered the board while on the search for information regarding the as-yet unreleased Series 7.  He found it through the original boards located at Bboy.com, the Sodor Island Forums' first premises outside of the UKtrainSim Forums where the original team of members (''Of whom only Sillyevan, MSTnoodle and Fat Hatt remain'') formed the idea to setup a board.  Although Ryan is ''not'' a founding member of the original community, he is well known as one of the few early SiF members who still frequents the board.

Ryan first registered with SiF on the 5/4/03 when the board was in it's first official premises of Bboy.com, and although not a founding member, is well known as one of the few early SiF members who still frequent the board.

As well as being the current Administrator, Ryan is also the SiF's longest serving active staff member, having taken up his position in September 2003, he is the only one left of the original staff team grouping, which consisted of himself, Sillyevan and Peter Sam.  Throughout this time, he has been involved with the Extended Railway Series evaluations prior to the appointment of an official committee, as well as the general running of the board.

Ryan is also the creator of Sodor Island Fansite, a well known and much admired Thomas-related site.

He is a keen writer and high on creativity. He has contributed a great deal of volumes to the Extended Railway Series library; as well as being the first official Independent Series writer with his series (now co-written with Christopher Signore) The Laggan Railway, as well as a number of short fan-fiction and parody pieces. As well as this, Ryan has been known to play several roles within Sodor Island's extensive media library, as well as writing a number of scripts for the Sodor Studios redubbing group.
