Model Tips
- Have a plan. If you don't know what you're doing, your model will often flop over or fail to move
- Connecting masses to make a model stronger is a good idea, but new constructors tend to make things too strong, and thus immoble.
- A "foot" works best with 2 muscles, not 2 muscles and a spring, or 5 muscles.
- Start off simple with models.
- Use guidelines to make even models.

Guidelines
Guidelines are a way to make precise springs without using XML Editing. They also can be used to make precise springs with irrational lengths. To make a basic guideline, the following process is used:
- Make two pairs of vertical fixed masses.
- Connect each pair.
- Make another fixed mass to the left of both, so that a line drawn to the right of it will intersect both springs.
- Create a second fixed mass.
- Connect it to the first.
- Position it to the right of the original pairs, so that the spring intersects the original two springs.
To use one,
- Drag the masses you want connected to the approximate intersections
- Connect the masses to the three nearest fixed masses each.
- Adjust them until all of these springs disappear.
- Disconnect the masses from the fixed masses

Zip Springs
Zip Strings are zero (or close to zero) length springs. They can add energy to anything and are usually used as toys, but can be used to make Zip Strings . They are made either through XML editing or the following process:
- Create a free mass and bring it into a corner
- Right-click.
- Create another one and drag it into the same corner
- Click again in the same spot
