The Brigadoon Blog includes background information about Brigadoon, although it appears that the blog has been dormant since about April 2006.

The concept of Brigadoon is that it provides a safe place for people with Asperger's Syndrome to meet and interact with one another on-line. The benefit of Second Life is that the AS sufferer has difficulty in reading visual and other non-verbal clues during interaction with others. Within SL, avatars don't have the richness of expression and gesture found in Real Life, and so there are fewer distractions to worry about.
