PRINCIPLE 27: In the second round, opener/overcaller can rebid a suit longer than the five cards promised by his 1-level bid, or the six cards promised by his 2-level bid. He should use a Total Trumps count to decide on the level of his bid: the 2-level for a six-card suit, the 3-level for a seven-card suit etc. This principle is not enforced if responder showed a strong hand in the first round — i.e. 2NT, 3x, or 4NT.
