  6. Opposite a 3-level suit bid, the 1NT opener now bids his cheapest 4+ card suit.
  7. It is now clear to both East and West that the hearts are unstopped, so East bids past 3NT by showing another 4+ card suit.
  8. West ends the auction by showing his support for East's original suit.

Result

  • E-W can make 2NT, 2♠, 5♦ and 5♣
