Sadako Yamamura is the original wellwraith. Sadako was born to her mother, Shizuko Yamamura on October 31, 1947, in a cave, where her mother hoped she would be carried away by the waves. However, the next day Sadako was still there, so Shizuko decided to keep her. They both had psychic powers, Shizuko being a well known psychic, but Sadako grew up socially awkward and unbalanced. At an ESP demonstration hosted by Dr. Heihachiro Ikuma, whom Shizuko had a romantic relationship with and married, Shizuko was branded a fraud and charlatan and a 7 year old Sadako killed the reporter who started the chaos. Because of being branded a fraud, Shizuko committed suicide by leaping into the volcano, Mt. Mihara. At the age of 11, Sadako predicted the eruption of Mt. Mihara, which was proven corrct. Knowing what could happen if her powers grew, at the age of 18, Ikuma sent Sadako to Tokyo, where she joined the Hisho Acting Troupe. No one knows what happened while she was there. In the summer of 1966, when her father came down with tuburculosis, Sadako visited him a lot. But she was raped by a man named Nagao Jotaro in a smallpox induced fever, a young doctor who watched her bedridden father. After he raped her, he found out that, while appearing female, she had external testes due to Testicular Feminization Syndrome. It was her secret and, ashamed, she threatened to kill him telepathically. He strangled her and threw her down a nearby well. Having smallpox, he transmitted it to her when he raped her. Sadako survived on sheer willpower for 30 years in the well before dying. Soon, a holiday resort is built on the site, a cabin over the well. Hakone Pacific Land, cabin B-4. A family who stayed there, recorded a T.V show in the VCR, but Sadako's spirit was able to, using her psychic power of nensha, record a curse over the videotape. The family was asleep and left the tape when they left. Three days later, four teenagers stayed in the cabin and found the The tape and watched it, but found only inexplicable lines and images. They recorded a random T.V commercial over the end and left. On September 15, all four died, at the same time, in different places, from heart failure. The curse has spread ever since.
