Sadako Yamamura (born 1947) is the original wellwraith. She was born to her mother Shizuko Yamamura. Sadako possessed psychic powers, along with her mother. She was born in a cave, where her mother hoped she would be carried away by the waves. However, the next day Sadako is still there, so she decided to keep her. Sadako grew up socially awkward and unbalanced. Sadako was raped by a man who threw her down a well, after finding out that, while appearing female, she had external testes due to a genetic disorder. She survived on sheer willpower for over 33 years, when a cabin is built over the well. She was able to, using her psychic powers, record a curse over a videotape playing in a VCR. Whoever watches said videotape will die in seven days if it is not passed on.
