Refers to the curse symptoms and virus a person contracts from watching any of the tapes. Almost always lasts exactly seven days.

All-Inclusive Symptoms

These symptoms are universal among the tapes.

• A sense of feeling on edge
• Strange feelings around water, seeing shadows in water
• A mysterious, lingering smell of old well water
• Warped image on film
• Automatic scribbling out of faces
• Terrified, contorted face upon death
• Death at the end of seven days

Samara Morgan Tape Symptoms

These symptoms are usually unique to Samara tapes.

• Automatic doodling, especially of ladders, horses, and eyes
• Animals acting strange around the cursed, especially horses
• Images of Anna Morgan brushing her hair in a mirror
• Images of Anna Morgan jumping off a cliff into the ocean
• A burning tree
• Dreams or illusions of ladders
• Dreams or illusions of Samara
• Burn marks on skin where dream/illusion Samara touched the cursed

Sadako Yamamura Tape Symptoms

These symptoms are usually unique to Sadako tapes.

• Images of Mt. Mihara erupting
• Images of Sadako's mother jumping into a volcano
• Strange instances of Japanese characters, especially "Sada"
• Images of Sadako
• Smelling old, or stale water
• Seeing the Towel-Headed Man
• Having a malformed face in pictures or on video

Eun-Suh Park Tape Symptoms

These symptoms are usually unique to Eun-Suh tapes.
