Wikishabbat

Welcome to The University of Minnesota Hillel "Wikishabbat" page!

This is an informative website, consisting of general information about Shabbat practice and observance. It is also a compendium of individual narratives and experiences. Each visitor is encouraged to add personal anecdotes and memories, rather than simply list facts. Our goal is not to simply create a Shabbat database, but rather, a Shabbat "community", consisting of stories, memories, and personalities.

So- browse around, see what looks good, and add your own thoughts! Remember ...

In this site you will find:

-A definition of Shabbat and some Shabbat terms

-Shabbat memories

-Traditions

-Recipes

-Tips and Techniques for hosting a Shabbat Dinner

-"Wikishabbat" works at the University of Minnesota Hillel

-Testimonials from Wikishabbat participants

And Much Much More

Why A Wiki?

A "Wiki" is a website consisting of articles that are written, edited, and submitted by anyone! What this means is that any and everyone can give their input on any and every aspect of Shabbat they want! Wiki-articles are always changing, and growing, letting the user add their own stories and experience to existing articles, or create entirely new articles on their own- it's the ultimate interactive database for all your shabbat needs!
