Request #1 from players:
If/when we ever get back to the Light of Knowledge, he might actually recall the "exploits" of Brian the Thoroughly Untrustworthy... though not necessarily know of Brian by name. It occurred to me tonight that the peculiar events in Gulnak's family history, particularly regarding her particular clan , and possibly involving her father who was at one time a rather famous adventurer (though any Orc Wizard/Fighter would be noteworthy, he was actually quite a powerful one until he pissed off his wife / powerful Cleric and was forced into Forrest Gump level stupidity). I think that Brian the Thoroughly Untrustworthy would be an interesting NPC to run into.
In my head, he's always been a human, possibly with classes in rogue or bard or illusionist. He could be a perfectly decent guy who sort of put his foot into it and accidentally got involved in a domestic dispute between Orcs (not the most forgiving people) and subsequently was labeled "untrustworthy" by Gulnak's dad... very possibly he's "Brian the Scrupulous but Unfashionably Friendly to Orcs" to everyone else he meets. He could just as easily be posing as "Masseur to the Rich and Famous" and running a black market smuggling operation. I think me (dave) knowing in advance what Brian actually is might interfere somewhat with Gulnak's responses to him when/if they ever actually meet.
I tend to play Gulnak in a very stream of consciousness kind of way. Very little forethought into her actions, because I don't want to temper her wisdom of 5 with any of my (admittedly) limited common sense.
The 'Request from Player' then is this: When we next go to the light of knowlege, Gulnak is pretty likely to show off the sigil/rune she knows. The Light of Knowledge would then be reasonable to inquire how/why she knows the mark that belongs to a Symbol of Death... that would bring out her backstory a little bit, which might lead her to Brian. Maybe not immediately. But eventually. And he might be fun. If he seems like too much work (to create another powerful, possibly recurring character/opponent/foil/nemesis/misunderstood anti-hero/etc then it's just as plausible that he be a mid-level crunchy that makes for an easy filler type session where we have to 'bring him to justice' or he's about to be hung and Gulnak has to rescue him in order to bring him to her dad... whatever. Anyhow, I'd like to bring him into it as more than a running gag.
