[edit] History

Dorothy is, much like her literary namesake, a farm girl who ran away from home outside of Seattle in the 1950's. Rather than meeting a charming charlatan who sent her back home, however, she found herself wandering through the Hedge until she stumbled into the lands of one of the Gentry. He, of course, took the girl in and put her right to work tending his gardens. In time, the essence of the plants she was caring for seeped into her; rather than changing her into a plant - as what occurred to a number of the Lost who tended his gardens - she instead mimicked their beauty. Her Durance ended when she was looking towards the garden walls and wishing with all her might that she could go home. Much to her surprise, a door back into the Hedge appeared; not wanting to take any chances, she high-tailed it out and never looked back. She returned to the real world outside of the barn which her family owned when she left. Her grand-nephew currently owns the farm, and was happy to take in a 'distant cousin' until she could get on her feet. Dorothy took on the role of Spring Queen in 1985; she had met the others who would become the ruling council soon after she returned, and the four banded together after the old Freehold was overrun by Loyalists.

[edit] Description

The Mask shows her as a woman in her mid-twenties wearing a stylish but sensible green dress, with long dark brown hair often done back in a braid, tanned skin, and brilliant green eyes; the astute can catch the scent of roses around her. The Lost see her as a stunning beauty with pale white skin, thorny roses woven into her hair and verdant eyes that cause those who look into them to feel no small bit of joy, if only for an instant. Her dress is made from emeralds that have been spun into thread, catching the light and reflecting a brilliant green all around her. In terms of personality, she hasn't lost her country charm; she is very welcoming for a Lost, and will often offer an ear to those of the Freehold who are having problems.

[edit] ST Notes

  • Is one of the primary financiers for Downunder, a Lost-run club in downtown Seattle
  • Has grown rather close to her grand-nephew, whom she has ensorcelled.
