[edit] Description
Tomas is just shy of six feet tall, and wirey. He's deeply tanned, as is common for ruin-running scavengers. His clothing of choice tends to be full body when possible - long-sleeved shirts, full pants, sandles. He has a slight beard going, and wears what hair he has back in an old red bandanna.
[edit] History
Despite Tomas' open and easygoing attitude, he has yet to share anything substantial of his past with anyone. Of course, this leaves a great deal of questions open about him. Why is a nomad so well educated? Where did the shovel come from? How is he so stealthy? And what, if anything, is his real motive for helping the people of Safehaus?
[edit] Personality
Tomas goes out of his way to be cheerful and talkative. Those who discuss things with him tend to find he's actually particularly well educated, and seemingly willing to help with any puzzle or problem brought up to him. He's got something of a never say die attitude, as one might expect of a solitary nomad, although he also tends towards playing devil's advocate in larger debates.
[edit] Personal Relationships
- Avery
"Don't get me wrong, she seems like a nice girl. Her and Miles, well, she's a good match for him, you follow me? But something just doesn't seem right about her. Maybe it's all sleepers, but she seems a bit touched in the head, you follow me?"
Tomas has never been particularly amazing with relationships, so he's not amazed that Avery seems to distrust him in particular. Still, if asked about it, the nomad simply shrugs it off, and continues to talk about Miles and her as if he were much older than they were.
- Godschild
"Merchants, merchants. All of 'em seem like they're your friends, but they ain't, you follow me?. I wonder how much you're willing to sell us for, merchant?"
It isn't particularly fair on Tomas' part, but he hasn't trusted Evan from the word go. If pressed about it, he'll usually mumble something about how merchants only look out for themselves, then either wander off or change the subject.
- Miles
"Mutants are pretty damned strange things. Most of 'em aren't rightly human anymore, you follow me? But still, Tomas seems as close to a lawman as this little "town" has. And maybe he'll help the others carve a future for themselves, you follow me?"
Miles in particular seems to be one of Tomas' favorite things. If anything, he tends to approach him like most people would approach a science experiment - rarely interacting, asking observational questions, and clearly taking notes. Though he doesn't act purely like a scientist; if Miles has a question that involves the good of Safehaus, Tomas usually is willing to lend a rather exhaustive mental library to the cause.
- Noranti
"You truck with old gods, crow woman. I wonder why you would be drawn here."
Like he is around Miles, Tomas seems unwilling to interact with Noranti. However, he seem to be genuinely wary of the old seer in this case, often making himself particularly scarce if she's around.
[edit] Character Notes
- Tomas has a vocal tick/annoying habit of ending every few sentences with "You follow me?". This was an unintentional homage to The Walking Dead's Axel, who ends his sentences in a similar manner.
- Tomas' signature weapon of choice, a shovel, seems to be made from a combination of several other, metal shovels. The end result is one well-crafted fighting and digging implement.
- Although he hasn't had a chance to show it yet, Tomas is actually very literate, and if inquired upon, he's quite well read.
