Joachim is a giant of a man, at about seven feet tall. He appears to largely be normal in build, with the exception of his arms, which are stainless steel, and have very obvious pistons extending slightly out of them at the elbows. He's still dressed in his military BDUs and boots, with a sleeveless shirt on. He has buzzed blonde hair, and blue eyes.

Sgt. Hellenbrant is a man who prefers not to think about his past, as disjointed as his memories of it are. He knows that, sometime earlier, before the fall, he was a solider. He isn't sure for who, but he knows he did do something rather important for them, that required the utmost secrecy... even if he's not sure what that was. He does remember the hours of agony he suffered in the lab - even if he's not sure what their goal was - and then a deep sleep.
Joachim came to Safehaus with X, and has not gotten along quite as well with them as his companion has.

If it weren't clear from looking at him that he were military, his attitude certainly gives it away. Joachim lives on a very regimented schedule, doesn't ask a lot of questions, and basically doesn't go out of his way to consider long term effects. He's a soldier first and foremost, as he's unsure what else is left of him.

"I don't see what your interest is here, but if you want to live with others..." Joachim, stodgy and antisocial as he is, doesn't really care for much of anyone. The exception to this rule is X, who he escaped 'the laboratory' with. Joachim's appointed himself as the being's guardian, and is rather exceptionally protective of it. He tends to treat Chem like she's somewhat helpless, entirely trying to defend her from pretty much everything. He eases back on this with Hex, who he's realized is a fair bit more independent, though he will still often accompany the man for discussions.

- Joachim is a straight-up combat cyborg. He's exceptionally strong and durable, when compared to a normal human.
- Joachim has enhanced sight and hearing. He can also detect radio frequencies, and radioactivity. He has night vision.
