Curriculum for Grade 9 Health: Human Sexuality
This unit starts Monday, October 16, 2006 and will last approximately five 75 minute periods. There will be two rotations with 1/2 of each class participating in judo lessons with Sensei Miller while the other 1/2 of the class participates in health classes.
The following objectives will be covered in this unit:
- Identify the developmental stages of sexuality throughout life
- Describe the factors that lead to responsible sexual relationships
- Describe the relative effectiveness of preventing pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases
- Demonstrate understanding of how to use decision-making and assertiveness skills effectively to promote healthy sexuality
- Demonstrate an understanding of the pressure on teens to be sexually active
- Identify community support services related to sexual health concerns
