Seara

From Reydala

Character Bio:

Name: Seara Alin'drai Race: Half-Elf Class: Ranger Gender: Female Age: Appears to be about 25, but is 50-something due to her race Alignment: Chaotic Good Deity: Triana

Physical Appearance:

Height: 5'5" Body Type: About average. Not exactly slender, sturdy enough to hold her own, yet not too stocky. Hair: Dark brown hair, cropped short for conveyance. Eyes: Dark green. Clothing: Wears simple leather armor over a green tunic that allows for freedom of movement. Other features: Wears an unusually-large silver pendant in the shape of a hawk over her armor and tunic, which she carefully places underneath her clothing when presented with a battle. The pendant is one of the few possessions she has that she treasures most, for it is the one remainder she has of her father, Aklan. Marianne (Seara's mother) claims the pendant might be magical, but neither her nor Seara have any clue about what kind of magic it might contain nor how to activate it.

Background:

Hometown: Mergaar, a small coastal town on the western part of the Empire of Riscana. Hometown details: Mergaar is a town heavily influenced by trade and commerce due to its location, and it is populated largely by both elves and humans alike. The town is economically supported by exports and imports and most of its inhabitants steer away from any large political actions and policies set up buy the Empire, and would rather govern themselves, living from day to day. Mergaar is a coastal climate with moderate temperatures throughout most of the year, except for seasonal winter storms. The town itself is surrounded by thick forests, the very same forests Seara found a home in at an early age.

Family background: Her elf-blood comes from her father's side, and her human-blood from her mother, Marianne. Her parents met in Mergaar when they were very young, and secretly married despite their parents' wishes. Soon after the marriage, Seara was conceived, much to the disappointment of her soon-to-be grandparents. Seara was, however, raised by the strong love her parents shared for each other, despite the rest of the family. There were no other children, because when Seara was 8 years old her father, Aklan, died of an incurable type of cancer. The town whispered about his death being caused by the act of an unapproved marriage, and due to that, Marianne and Seara moved to Liten, located in the Walstad Empire, where Marianne hoped her daughter would be able to continue embracing her elfin side among the elves living there, without the memory of her father's death or the whispering townspeople. Many Walstad elves had a hard time accepting Marianne, and Seara's mixed blood as well, but Liten's townspeople were accepting for the most part, and they eventually settled in nicely. Marianne never remarried and is still living in Liten.

Family statistics: Middle-income while Aklan was alive, as his craft was breeding and taming hunting dogs and falcons; lower-income when he passed away. Marianne supported herself and her daughter by making and selling candles in Liten. Aklan admired the deity elfin goddess Ragnae, but wasn't strongly religious. Marianne was raised following Terrema, but wasn't overly religious either. As such, Seara was allowed to follow the religion of her own choosing when she was older.

Education: Seara was home-schooled while Aklan was alive, and afterwards as well for some time. Marianne wished for her daughter to learn some of the skills and trades of the elfin race however, which resulted in the move to Liten. There, Seara apprenticed under a talented Ranger by the name of Kebron. Seara, while spending years as a broody young child due to her father's death, rapidly found a love for archery as well as melee combat, and also a love for animals of all kinds. She didn't have many friends, but rather found friends among the creatures of the forest. This led to an easy choice as to what to do with her life. Marianne was very proud of Seara, and knew that Aklan would be as well.

Character details:

Personality: Some of Seara's youthful broodiness has never left her, and as a result she is often seen as unapproachable. Growing up, she spent more time wandering the deep pockets of the surrounding forests than with other children and young adults her own age. She is still often withdrawn among other people, but it isn't because she is afraid of them. Rather, she fails to see the reason in mingling with 90% of the people she meets, so she doesn't bother. She is not afraid to stick up for herself, and is quick to draw her blade when provoked enough. She can be extremely stubborn and persistent about meeting a goal if the goal is that important to her... with whatever means, if necessary. She is not afraid to take risks or make gambles if thereis no other way to see a situation through. As such, she is not afraid to draw on her chaotic side if the situation calls for it. She is often quick to judge people. If she sees them as friend, then she is willing to fight her life for them. If she sees them as foe, then they won't have long to try and change her mind.

Religious Ideals: Seara takes the ideals and beliefs of Triana to heart, but because she discovered Triana semi-late into her life, it's more of a coincidence that she found a faith that encompasses the same "breathe deep and live fully" belief she already followed. As such, she rarely sees a reason to actively pray and would rather rely on her own skills, but she still likes to think of Triana guiding the path of her arrows and the swing of her blade like how the sharp eye of a falcon guide the bird's path of flight. Lending a lucky hand, if you will.

Relationships: She got along extremely well with her parents, and still does get along well with her mother. She strives to live and look forward in her life, carrying the essence of her father with her, who shared her love for nature and wild creatures. She has few close friends, but gets along extremely well with them, as long as they understand and accept her beliefs and do not try to push her into a different direction. She has few enemies as well, because she tries not to search out trouble. When training under Kebron, she often found herself in a rival situation with his other students, simply because they were usually much different that her, and usually favored by Kebron. Her most notable rival was named Evanthe, a carefree, spirited elf who was one of the few apprentices who met Seara's level of competence and dedication. The two were often seen as the most gifted of Kebron's students, and extremely even-matched at that. Spars between the two usually led to a draw. Evanthe's outgoing, positive nature made her the favorite to Kebron in Seara's mind, however, which led to a rivalry between the two.

Present Situation: Now a ranger of her own, Seara still spends most of her time under Kebron's care, learning everything she can of her art. The rivalry between her and Evanthe continues, however, and along with her own drive to experience the world, this leaves Seara desiring more and more to live a life of independence, despite how dearly she loves Kebron. She often takes off on the weekends without notice, but this time she's been gone for quite a while. Marianne and Kebron both start to worry and decide to send Evanthe after her. Seara finds herself in Kresevae, wishing to discover more of the land humans and elves alike call home. There, she hears about a library that specializes in ancient and magical artifacts, and decides to seek it out in order to research her father's pendant. Before she can take her leave, however, she comes across the aftermath of a large battle between humans and ice elves. Exploring the wreckage, she finds a necklace which radiates of some kind of magical energy. She takes that with her to the library as well. After being at the library for some time without any luck in her research, she meets Jaze and befriends some of the Abbots working there. Upon returning from hunting one day she hears about Jaze's capture from the Abbots. They ask for her aid in saving Jaze, and also show her how to use the ice elf's teleportation necklace. She is told that if she can rescue Jaze, she will receive help in finding out about her father's pendant. Hungry for a little adventure and also wishing to know more about the pendant, she decides to try her luck at rescuing Jaze.
