Locke

From Reydala

Character Bio:

Name: Locke Foular Race: Half-Elf Class: Cleric Gender: Male Age: 45 Alignment: Lawful Good Deity: Sor

Physical Appearance:

Height: 5'0" (holy shit, that's my real height) Body Type: Skinny and slightly more than tanned skin. Hair: Long Black semi-greasy hair. Eyes: Dark Blue. Clothing: Wears the same rag-like tunic over warmer and more presentable clothing. The tunic belonged to his Father, Locke wanted to set something to remind him of his Family and how much they meant to him. Since Locke is always travelling, staying in towns for a week the most, he rarely goes shopping for clothes unless it was absolutely necessary. Having learned to be prepared for the elements as a child, Locke always carries a heavy cloak to keep warm in snowy environments and provide shade in saharic environments.

Background:

Hometown: Hongonal, 20minutes horseback east of the Walstad Empire western borderlines. (I can't measure in miles and kilometres will just confused people) Hometown details: Hongonal has a warm climate with little rain, so the grass plains around the Village are sometimes parched. Hongonal is a small village, with mainly Farmers and merchants, comprising mostly of humans with a mix of elves and half-elves. Locke likes the briskly cold air of winter, because of the high humidity levels in his hometown, summer gets very irritating especially with little trees to provide shade while out in the open.

Family background: Locke knows very little about his past, since his grandparents (father's side) avoided talking about before his father's death and had to talk to many friends of his grandparents' to get a clear idea on what happened in the past. Locke's mother left everyone soon after he reached the age of three for reasons that no one knows of. When Locke was at the age of nine, his father died holding back bandits so that he and his grandparents (father's side) could get away safely. Locke vaguely remembers his Father's face, but does not remember the bandits happening. Locke isn't sure if he has a brother and/or sister. At the age of 31, Locke's grandmother passed away from old age which lead to a big depression for his grandfather, Jel. Luckily, Locke was able to take care of the farm and look after Jel. After a year or two, Locke decided to sell the farm, saved the money and worked at the village general store, delivering goods. Soon after Locke reached the age of 40, Jel passed away. Locke decided to travel a lot further than where his grandfather took him on his lessons. Taking only the money saved up, essential clothing and armoury and his grandfather's sickle for safety.

Family statistics: Before and a little after the passing of Locke's grandmother they had low-income, but it was more than sufficient for day to day expenses and a little extra savings. While Locke worked at the general store, he would make a varying income, sometimes a little short of money for weekly groceries where he'd pull out the money he got from selling the farm, sometimes a little more where he would save up. After his grandfather passed away he had little to no income, spending only when needed to buy food and making the occasional bet to test his luck. Rarely worked at local stores to get a little money here and there, because he felt his savings were dropping.

Education: Locke was homeschooled, like all children in the village (some children would go to a neighbour's house to learn). Locke was taught by his grandfather, teaching him how to work on the farm at a young age. When Locke was able to work without supervision, Jel decided to take Locke travelling from the countryside further to the east to the mountains to the west. They would mainly look at survival and how things work or behaved (when Jel remembers, that is). Locke's homeschooling stopped after his grandmother passed away, because of the depression grandfather Jel was in.

Family Ethics: "Live life with honour" and "Do things with both heart and mind".

Family Figurehead: Grandfather Jel, taught Locke almost everything he knows, apart from cooking and healing where his grandmother provided guidance.

Character details:

Personality: Locke looked after anything that needed help and didn't provoke him. He would occasionally bring home injured animals (that can be carried) and try his best to help them, though his grandmother would do most of the work. Locke was very curious about everything, which did great when grandfather Jel decided to take him travelling, teaching him to be cautious and not everything is as it seems. Locke was under a lot of stress after his grandmother passed away, his spirit was shattered but he kept his head up and tried to be cheerful for his grandfather's sake.

Religious Ideals: Locke never did have much of a religious background before Jel passed away, he had everything in the world with him and his grandparents didn't believe in a higher being and that magic was a will of the mind on nature. While mourning the loss of Jel, Locke noticed a follower of Sor, though he didn't know it at the time, Lodrea. She was mourning alongside the close friends of Jel. He was amazed he didn't recognise her and struck conversation with her, finding out about Sor and her fellow followers. Locke had never heard of Sor before that day because of how followers of Sor actively avoided it. After the conversation, Locke thought that Sor would be a great deity to follow for his belief that "each had their place in the world and every one was important" and "To serve the Alive is better for the Alive, take care of her children now, and I will tend to them forever after". Locke wasn't very fond of working in a graveyard. Locke travelled with Lodrea, who tutored him about Clergy and taught the basic skills. After three years, Locke and Lodrea went their separate ways.

Relationships: Locke greatly respects his parents and grandparents, even though he can't remember his mother. One of the many reasons why he is travelling the world was to hope and find her, but doesn't know anything enough to ask about her. Locke was always that little shy to approach people without any reason and for that, found few friends in the village. When Locke left the village, he sold the house to one of his closest friend who was looking to move out of his parents' house. Locke has had no travelling companions ever since he and Lodrea separated, he would occasionally talk to the barman and the occasional guard of a city.
