The dark staircase

From Reddit Choose Your Own Adventure

As you softly walk past the brazier you catch yourself humming what you will later remember as the tune to the song "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette. The eerie realization of this unexpected memory startles you into a momentary panic as you increase your speed towards the top of the staircase.

The descent down the stairs is well lit for the first handfull of steps but no light can be seen yet below. The staircase is much longer than you expected and after a hitting the twentieth step or so you begin to count. The darkness increases at each additional step, and you begin needing to feeling the right wall with your hand for stability. Each step further is being done in near complete darkness and with much caution. You've counted up to 113 steps, the last 50 or so in complete darkness. Suddenly you realize you've hit a landing of some sort, with what feels like a marble floor. It's hard to say if you are at the entrance to a large room or just a hallway, but the shear darkness is starting to to make you reconsider this path.

Do you want to continue feeling your way into the pitch black or have you had enough?

Which way do you choose:

Return to the brazier room

Damn nature, you scary.

Enter the pitch black landing

There's got to be something interesting here, if only I could find a light source.
