Give him flowers

From Reddit Choose Your Own Adventure

You hand the old man the wildflowers you've been picking. His eyes brighten.

"Thank you," he says. He examines you for a moment, sizing you up. "Would you like to come in?"

You agree, and he stands back to let you in. The cottage is quite small and plain, but it has beautiful, hand-carved wooden furniture. As you admire it, you catch the scent of something delicious.

"Have a seat," the old man says. As you sit, he goes to a cabinet and pulls out a crystal vase. He puts the wildflowers in it, then sets it on a coffee table, before sitting down opposite you.

You sit in silence, trying to think of something to say. You want to ask about the strange place you came from, but you bite your tongue.

Eventually, the old man speaks. "Most people that come by here just want some apples. They just don't give a damn about anything besides themselves." You shift uncomfortably in your seat. The man notices and chuckles, "Oh, I'm under no illusions, I know that's why you came here too. But at least you had the decency to do something nice first, instead of just outright asking, or even just trying to steal my apples." He shakes his head. "People just ain't got no decency these days." He looks up at you and smiles. "Anyway, I don't want to bore you. But you are welcome to stay for dinner. I've got a roast cooking, which should be done soon."

You agree eagerly.

You politely refuse, you have to get going.
