You plant your feet and make a desperate dash for the cliff edge, you are surprised when the creature makes no immediate move. You are just planting your feet to leap when the creature almost lazily reaches out and slashes you across the back with a single flashing talon. Searing pain blocks out your world as you tumble into empty space. Your senses rush back to you as you crash into the ocean. The crippling pain makes it too hard to swim and you sink slowly to the sandy ocean bottom not far under the waves. Small creatures that seem to be composed soley of teeth and eyes begin pulling your skin off but that is of no consequence now. Your last blurry image is of the majestic monster diving through the sky and smashing through the water surface directly at you, a single set of talons closing around and crushing your skull.
