The Labyrinth

You approach the hole. It is a vertical brick passage, like a deep well. There is a distant light at the bottom. Removing the grate, you discover a ladder leading downwards.
You decide to climb down.
When you reach the bottom you find yourself in a cramped brick room, lit by mysterious glass-covered slits in the walls. The slits emit a dull yellow light with no obvious source. Someone has caved a message in to the wall: "Can you find the secret?"
There are also three wooden doors. One to the East, South and West.
What to do now?
It doesn't seem safe down here.
Or take the East, South or West doors.
This 'secret' sounds interesting...
