Rose Tyler was once just a common shop girl trying to give a bit of extra money to the household income. Her mother Jackie worked from the home as a hair dresser and Rose was just living an ordinary life. She had a boyfriend and a life of her own. Then one day while staying late at work everything changed when she saw something that usually one doesn't see milling about the basements of a department store.

The Shop Girl

Working at Hendricks was just a job to Rose. In some senses it was a way to keep her mother off her case about helping contribute, and in others it was a way to just prove that she could keep a job and earn an almost decent wage. Working late Rose was bringing the Lottery funds down to the manager who had already closed up for the night. It was in those dark halls being followed by living mannequins she met The Doctor -09- and realized just what was beyond the walls of the local shop. That night she was told to run and run she did as she watched the entire department store blow up in front of her.

The job now gone and her mother spending most of her time trying to sort out how Rose was going to benefit from not having a job Rose still thought of what she had seen and knew that it wasn't exactly right. The Doctor returned to her home tracking a piece of the mannequin hoping to track them back to their origin and Rose became more suspicious of the man who called himself The Doctor.

While investigating The Doctor her then boyfriend Mickey was captured by the living Plastic and replaced. Once Rose realizes what has happened and what could have happened to her boyfriend and best friend she goes along with The Doctor learning more than her fair share about the world and just what goes on beneath the surface.

When given a choice to stay behind and become just another shop girl, or to travel with the Doctor and experience everything that could be out there she hesitates at first and the Doctor leaves. He returns to inform her that his ship the TARDIS is also a Time Machine and it is in that moment that she accepts the offer and becomes his new Companion.

The Companion

Rose Tyler joined The Doctor as his Companion, otherwise referred to as his "Plus One" through time and space using The Doctor's ship the TARDIS. The two of them traveled around witnessing history, life, death, and destruction. They met aliens and creatures, and humans that had lived in times that Rose couldn't even imagine. Through these travels with The Doctor Rose developed a great connection to him and eventually fell in love with him.

Traveling with: The Doctor 09

Her first adventures with the Doctor took her to the end of Earth and pitted the two of them up against aliens such as the Slytheen and creatures known as the Dalek. At one point she returned home to realize that a whole year had passed while she was away and her mother had no clue where she had been. The strain of knowing the truth Rose felt would be too much for her mother and often she just had to ask her mother to trust her to be safe. Through their travels they also met Captain Jack Harkness and he joined them on their travels as well. When their travel took them to Satellite Five and up against an army of Daleks The Doctor sent Rose back home keeping his promise to her mother that he would keep her safe. The TARDIS wouldn't travel without the Doctor and so Rose felt useless and wanted more than anything to go help him fight the Daleks in the future. Through out their travels the words Bad Wolf had been appearing and it was in that moment that Rose realized that it had to have been a clue, a message to let herself know that she could help him.

Finally confessing the truth about just how amazing The Doctor was, and that he had allowed her to see her father's death, and that she was the girl in the story that she would tell her when she was growing up, Jackie finally believed that Rose was better off with The Doctor and along with Mickey's help the three of them opened the Heart of the TARDIS and Rose looked into it, taking the Time Vortex into herself. It is still unknown what long term effects taking the Time Vortex into herself may have caused for Rose.

She returned to the future and destroyed the army of Daleks as well as brought Jack back to life unsure of what the true meaning of I Bring Life would be. The power was too great and for those few moments she saw first hand what it was like to be in the place of the Doctor to see everything and feel everything. Before the power consumed her completely the Doctor kissed her and transferred the energy to himself. The energy was too great for him as well and it forced him to regenerate in order to survive the power that was running through his current form.

Traveling with: The Doctor 10

After The Doctor -10- regenerates Rose is unsure of just who the man she has been traveling with all that time is. Thinking that she had gotten to know one man who was now replaced with another causes her a slight change of heart and she nearly gives up on the Doctor and what he has meant to her and the universe. Which is horrible timing since London is being invaded by an alien threat and the Doctor is still suffering from the side effects of his regeneration. The Doctor however saves the day and in seeing that he truly is the same man that she has known all that time agrees to continue traveling with him.

The two of them slip through time and history meeting Madame de Pompadour, and the Queen of England, who honors them both with titles only to banish them immediately after. They see Earth reborn and species that time forgot. Through their travels Rose and her trust of the Doctor increases and eventually she realizes that she truly loves the Doctor and knows that she would prefer to never leave his side.

Leaving the World Behind

Cybermen and Daleks

Eventually a rift that had formed between two parallel worlds starts to create a gateway between the void of space between the two worlds allowing Cybermen to cross from one Earth to the other. In another shot of horrible timing the Daleks are also in the process of opening the Genesis Ark something that the Time Lords built during the last great Time War. Daleks and Cybermen fight for control of the worlds and The Doctor realizes that the only way to stop them is to suck all of them into the void by opening it. Rose realizes that the void will pull anyone that has traveled through it into the void as well and she is told that she'll go to the other world with her mother and father who was alive on the other Earth.

Knowing that she would refuse to leave the Doctor her father steps in and forces her to teleport by placing a device around her neck and pressing the button for her, which she immediately does again to send her back to the Doctor. The Doctor tells her that she'd be leaving her family behind, and that she'd never see them again. It is at this time that she tells the Doctor that she'd made her mind up long ago that she'd never leave his side. The two of them set forth in opening the Void and sucking all of the Cybermen and Daleks into the Void.

With both of them clinging onto giant magnets firmly attached to the wall the void pulls at all the matter that has traveled through the void into it. One of the Dalek's hit against the lever on Rose's side and the void begins to lose some of it's power which would put the Earth at risk. Risking it all because she knows it is exactly the thing that the Doctor would do she moves away from the safety of her magnet and fights against the void to pull the lever back to full power, but she can't hold on and she slips free being pulled into the void.

Her father on the other side refuses to accept that he'll never see Rose again and shifts through the void once more just in time to save her life. However in doing this he separates her from the one place she wanted to be, and from the one person she wanted to stay with.

Saying Goodbye

Dreams start calling out to Rose from her new life in the other Earth and when she explains them to her family they immediately understand and follow the dreams that Rose had. There at Bad Wolf Bay she gets her final goodbye and confesses to the Doctor that she loves him. The Doctor begins to reply stating that if this is his last time to say it, but he is cut off by a lack of power to transport his image through the scar left behind on the rift.

Present Day - RolePlaying Inclusion

Torchwood : London

Once settled into life in the alternate Earth Rose joins Mickey at Torchwood. Her experience with the Doctor and her insight into Alien life and technology make her a key asset to the team. She ventures out on missions and tries to solve the infinite mysteries that exist in a world that is not so different from the one she grew up on. Through her time as a member of Torchwood she refocuses her direction in life in following in the steps that the Doctor showed her over their travels. She wants to save her world just as he did so many times, and she wants to make a difference in her own life.

Contacting the Doctor

Since joining Torchwood Rose has also worked on a side project in an attempt to rejoin the Doctor. Not wanting to give up simply because the last time she spoke to the Doctor about reopening the rift he mentioned the entire world collapsing she continues her search. Her first break through came with picking up what she thought was interference from an unknown source along the same frequency that the original rift had been able to broadcast the image of the Doctor through at Bad Wolf Bay.

From there she was able to get her laptop to pick up the static noise and run her own broadcast through the sound hoping to make contact with anything outside the walls of her current Earth. Using the altered pieces from her cell phone from when she traveled with the Doctor she was able to cut a path from the internet of her world into the internet of the rest of the universe and began to communicate with the Doctor and informing him of the progress she had made.

Together the two of them are still trying to work out the meaning of the code that is running along the frequency of the scar along the rift and hope that one day it will be the key to bringing them back together.
