The ATV 350 has a good ventilation system, but it is not airtight on its own. That is where the nitro-cycler comes in. This modification allows the crew compartment to be airtight, and filters the the air in the cabin to provide a continuous air supply. The name comes from the fact that the device provides an Earth like environment with 78% nitrogen rather than the Reach air proportion. The nitrogen/oxygen ratio provided by the nitro-cycler allows for easier breathing, meaning that drivers can stay alert and active for longer periods of time. Earth Tech versions are called scrubbers.
