Venom Flechettes
From Reach
If mankind understands anything, it understands germs. With a small genetic sample, and access to the science labs on a Colonial Lander, a skilled scientist can create a strain of bacteria that selectively infects one species and rapidly kills the host. These strains are extremely useful against the usually hardy species on Reach, but delivery is a problem (rampaging alien monsters don't like getting shots.) Enter the Venom Flechette. Venoms resemble traditional flechettes, except their center is drilled out and filled with a broth inoculated with the live bacteria. These rounds can be fired out of any flechette gun, but must be kept frozen, having a shelf life of only a few hours at room temperature.
Venom rounds are expensive and hard to find. Only a few colonies still have the working equipment to produce them, and they generally only have Venoms targeted at local species. Rounds can cost up to 10 Tins apiece, and buyers generally need to provide their own cold storage. While Venoms could be targeted to humans, none of the current manufacturers make these (at least openly).
