Earthtech Edna
From Reach

One of the planet's few celebrities, EarthTech Edna Greene is a rare genius, capable of bringing broken EarthTech back into working order. Edna's business model is simple: she pays a fair price broken pieces of EarthTech, and uses their parts to create working, "refurbished" EarthTech equipment. At any given time, she has three to five EarthTech items for sale. Though she charges a steep price, these items sell quickly, as desert travelers are usually willing to fork over the extra Tins to increase their odds of making the crossing alive. For a fee, Edna will attempt to repair damaged EarthTech. While she's very good at what she does, often the equipment is simply beyond repair; in these cases, she refunds the customer in full, and makes a fair offer to buy the usable parts off them.
Over the years, Edna has acquired quite a collection of components. These are stored and meticulously cataloged in a large cavern cut into the rock. The only ingress is through a fortified blast door with an EarthTech biometric sensor, allowing access to Edna, and no others. The security is not entirely needed, for while these components are priceless to a genius like Edna, they are worthless to most of the population of Reach.
A widow in her late 40's, Edna has lost her husband and two of her three children to the dangers of the Equatorial Desert. Her eldest, Walter Greene, runs a more conventional mechanic's shop on the other side of Last Gas. Despite losing her family, and the poor business prospects, Edna steadfastly refuses to ever leave Last Gas. In her remote location, business still comes to her, simply because the service she offers is so very valuable.
