Differences Between the RB and RZ Series
The major difference between an RB and a RZ body, is that the RB bodies are completely manual, and the RZ bodies have an electronically controlled shutter. The later RZ models are also designed to work with digital backs.
Differences Between the RB Models
There are three RB models:
RB-67 Professional
This model can be identified by the "Professional" logo across the top of the left side of the body. This was the first model produced.
RB-67 Pro-S (Super-Professional)
This model can be identified by the "Professional S" logo across the top of the left side of the body, and the "Pro S" logo in the upper-left corner of the front side of the body. The Pro-S has all of the features of the Pro model, and added safety interlocks, which, among other things, keep the shutter from being opened without advancing the film. The Pro-S also sports a fully enclosed viewfinder, which cuts down on reflections on the ground glass focusing screen.
RB-67 Pro-SD
This model can be identified by the "Professional SD" logo across the top of the left side of the body, and the "Pro SD" logo in the upper-left corner of the front side of the body. The Pro-SD has all of the features of the Pro-S model, but has a larger lens mount to accept two of the newer lenses. The Pro-SD can still use all previous RB-67-compatible lenses, although the older 'C' type lenses need an adapter. The Pro-SD backs also added an integrated dark slide holder, and are slightly more square as a result. See Compatibility for more details.
