The New User Mamiya RB/RZ FAQ

What is the Mamiya RB-67 all about?

The Mamiya is a medium format (120 and 220 format film) film camera originally created in the early 1970's. Many similar cameras are produced by more well-known manufacturers such as Hasselblad and Rollei. The Mamiya RB67, however, leans decidedly away from the 'point and shoot' side of the spectrum.

The RB-67 Professional was the first camera in the series, and the generic term 'RB-67' is used to collectively refer to all of the models in the line. There are two major models made in this series, the RB and the RZ models. For more information on the differences, see Differences between Models.

The attractiveness of the RB-67 is it's high availability on the used market, relatively low price (as of March 2007, a complete kit can be found for as low as $300 US) and robustness. The RB-67 also sports one of the largest negative sizes found in medium format cameras, 6x7 cm, and as high as 6x8 cm in the newer models.
