The red emergencies and utilities van is used on permanent way trains as a mobile mess room. It houses a generator and carries equipment for use in case of incidents. It is currently in use on the p-way train hauled by Perkins, replacing Wagon V, the Yellow Van, which is likely to be scrapped.
