166 is an open coach that was built in 1966 by Myers and Bowman as a steel-framed prototype open coach, to replace the 1930s and 1950s coaches, made entirely of wood.

Currently, it can be found stripped down to the bare metal in the joinery workshop at Ravenglass, ready for rebuilding. This coach is notable as its left-hand side was not boarded up, and the seats are more like benches than the traditional seats on all other coaches.
