-- OBJECTIVES: Awards are offered to encourage and increase original humanities research by Oklahoma scholars.

-- ELIGIBILITY: Awards will be made either to independent scholars, those affiliated with an institution, or to non-profit educational or cultural institutions in support of scholars in their employ. The scholar must hold an earned Master of Arts or Doctor of Philosophy degree in one of the humanities disciplines as defined by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The humanities disciplines include history, philosophy, languages, linguistics, the study of literature, archaeology, jurisprudence, the history, theory and criticism of the creative and performing arts, ethics, comparative religions, and those aspects of the social sciences employing historical or philosophical approaches; the latter may include cultural anthropology, sociology, political theory, and international relations. The scholar must be a resident of Oklahoma or be employed in Oklahoma. Resident independent scholars, with or without occasional academic affiliations, are eligible.

-- FUNDING: The sponsor will offer up to twelve grants of $500 each annually. Up to three grants of $1,000 each are awarded annually to scholars associated with universities or colleges that have received few OHC research grants within the past 10 years. These awards will be for scholars associated with institutions that have received few research grants within the past ten years. Awards must be matched at least dollar-for-dollar.
