Frontal Lobe
From Psi Guide
The frontal lobes control impulses, judgment, language production, working memory, motor function, sexual behavior, abilities, socialization, problem solving initiation, facial movement, planning abilities, coordinating, and motivation. The frontal lobes also assist in planning, coordinating, controlling, and executing behavior.
[edit] Do the frontal lobes house anomalistic abilities?
The frontal lobes are believed to probably be the part of the human brain which is used to control abilities, as they are quite large lobes and have the most seperate functions. Also, some people with abilities speak of a "tensing" feeling in the front of their brain / forehead whilst using abilities.
[edit] Damage to the frontal lobes
People who have damaged frontal lobes may experience problems with these aspects of cognitive function, being at times impulsive; impaired in their ability to plan and execute complex sequences of actions; perhaps persisting with one course of action or pattern of behavior when a change would be appropriate (known as perservation).
If the frontal lobes are damaged, various changes occur in the victim's psyche, such as:
- Mental flexibility and spontaneity is impaired, but the victim's IQ wouldn't decrease.
- The victim may begin talking incessantly, or not at all, as the frontal lobes play a major role in langauge cognition.
- Senses regarding risk taking and rule abiding are sometimes affected.
- Socialization can decrease, or increase.
- Damage to certain parts of the lobes can decrease libido, whilst damage to other areas can create unusual fetishes.
- The overall personality of the victim may change.
