Anomalistic Abilities

Anomalistic Abilities are extraordinary abilities that most people don't have, although quite a few do, and there may possibly hundreds who do not realize what they can do.

Abilities can be physial (affecting the physical world) or mental abilities (such as telepathy and enhanced intelligence). There are an effectively limitless number of abilities, and categorizing them will be difficult, as no two telepaths, pyrokinetics or mediums function in the same way.

There are many theories that pose an answer to the above question, some apply to some people and others apply to other people.

This theory states that anomalistic abilitites are emotionally developed, which may explain why some peoples' abilities seem to match their personality perfectly. See also this theory

This theory states that the appearance of anomalistic abilities has come from a recent contact with an unknown "X" agent, such as a virus or transposon, a mutagens or thaliomide, or radiation from various scources. Anomalistic abilities may have come about from something as mundane as power lines. This theory is unlikely since anomalistic abilities are not recent.

This theory claims that a seperate subspecies (witches) may have interbred with the Homo sapiens gene pool once witch hunts had subsided, and only recently is the diffuse material forming together and beginning to re-emerge. This theory is unlikely since anomalistic abilities are not recent.

[edit] Sentient EM Field Theory

This theory states that, in the mind of a person with abilities, the brain's own EM field (electromagnetic field of conciousnous) forms a semi-sentient entity, which, after studying the person's day to day routine, gives them a power. What this theory lacks in logic, it comes up with in creativity.
