Using 6th Floor Water Filtration System {in rooom 626}

1. Make sure that the black valve on the right side of the system attached to the hose is in the closed position (horizontal, pointing towards the back of the machine).
2. Turn on “power” switch on upper left side of the machine.
3. Wait for 2-3 minutes until the digital readout on the upper right side of the machine reads above 14 (with old filter) or 16 (with new filter).
4. Place the end of the hose into the carboy opening. Make sure the spigot on the carboy is closed.
5. Open the valve on the right side of the machine (vertical, pointing down).
6. Wait by the machine until the carboy is full. Make sure it is not leaking.
7. Close the valve on the right side of the machine.
8. Turn off the “power” switch.

• This water also can be used for molecular reactions, but it must be dispensed into a sterile container, aliquoted into 1.5-mL tubes, and frozen within 2 hours of retrieval.
