Using 6th Floor Water Filtration System {in rooom 626}
- Make sure that the black valve on the right side of the system attached to the hose is in the closed position (horizontal, pointing towards the back of the machine).
- Turn on “power” switch on upper left side of the machine.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes until the digital readout on the upper right side of the machine reads above 14 (with old filter) or 16 (with new filter).
- Place the end of the hose into the carboy opening. Make sure the spigot on the carboy is closed.
- Open the valve on the right side of the machine (vertical, pointing down).
- Wait by the machine until the carboy is full. Make sure it is not leaking.
- Close the valve on the right side of the machine.
- Turn off the “power” switch.
- This water also can be used for molecular reactions, but it must be dispensed into a sterile container, aliquoted into 1.5-mL tubes, and frozen within 2 hours of retrieval.
