Spiderman was created when Peter Parker, visiting a laboratory for a field trip, was bitten by a radioactive spider. This gave him radioactive superpowers. He began webslinging, using a serum he had invented with his keen scientific mind. He also tried professional wrestling for cash. One day, he declined to stop a thief who was getting away. "Not my job," he figured. But later that same day, that thief killed his beloved Uncle Ben. From that day on, he pledged to protect the innocent and stop the wicked.

- Spiderman can scale walls and jump just like a spider.
- He has spidey sense, which allows him to know seconds ahead of time when danger is coming.
- Is he strong? You bet, bub. He's got radioactive blood.

Spiderman is generally allied with the other Marvel superheroes, although he has a strained relationship with Wolverine, as does everyone.
- He often works alongside the Black Cat.
- He's also worked with Morbius before.
- He once acted as an agent for Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D.
- His close friends include Aunt May and Mary Jane Watson, his perennial fiance. There's also Gwen Stacy and Prof. Curt Connors.

For a superhero without a sidekick or team to work with, Spiderman has an enormous rogues gallery.
- The Green Goblin is his archnemesis.
- Doc Ock also has claims to that title.
- The Kingpin hates his guts.
- Venom once controlled him. Carnage is pretty evil, too.
- There's the Vulture, Sandman, Hydroman, the Scorpion, Electro, the Shocker, the Rhinoceros, the Kangaroo, Kraven the Hunter, um, the Chameleon, Mysterio, the Hobgoblin, the Lizard, Alistair Smythe...
- Newspaper editor J. Jonah Jameson has repeatedly called Spiderman "a menace."

- According to Marvel, his name is spelled Spider-Man. But I prefer Spiderman, plain and simple.
