Dante Alighieri

“Dante and some other guy divide the modern world between them; there is no third.”
Poor Dante. Kicked out of Florence, never got to consummate his unrequited love for Beatrice, had to endure marching (on foot) through hell, purgatory, and that big paradiso in the sky. Also wrote La Vita Nuova (about his unrequited darling). Well, at least he's considered one of the two majorest figures in all of literature. Those are some damn good poems he done writ. Long, damn good poems.
