They were launched on this space mission. However, they didn't have sufficient protection, and they were affected by the cosmic rays. This granted them all superpowers.

- Mr. Fantastic, who's really stretchy.
- Invisible Girl, Mr. Fantastic's husband, who can turn invisible and create force fields.
- The Thing, Invisible Girl's brother, who's big and strong.
- The Human Torch, who can say, "Flame on!" and start on fire.
