Resources in Napier Library

English poetry : the English poetry full-text database - on CD-ROM. Available for use in Craighouse and Merchiston libraries.

Resources on the Internet

Internet gateways

Some of the best gateways for this subject area are:

Intute: Arts & humanities Voice of the Shuttle - can't find any evidence that the site is currently being maintained, but there is still much useful material here.

Literature

Project Gutenberg - over 20,000 free books in the Project Gutenberg Online Book Catalog. A grand total of over 100,000 titles is available at Project Gutenberg Partners, Affiliates and Resources. You are advised to check that books are out of copyright in the UK (or your home country) before downloading.

The Victorian Web - "dedicated to “literature, history and culture in the age of Victoria”. Useful background material for 19th century literature.

The Poetry Archive - "The Poetry Archive is the world's premier online collection of recordings of poets reading their work."

The Literary Gothic - a Web guide to all things concerned with literary Gothicism, which aims to collect together as many important links and e-texts as possible.
