The basic principles of editing pages are:

1. It isn't WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). The layout of the text on the Editing page will not be the same as the layout on the saved page.

2. To create a new page, you'll need to use the square-bracket syntax in a page that already exists.

3. Remember, with each block of text, to start each new line in position #1 -- i.e. as far to the left as possible.
- If you don't -- e.g. if you indent the first line of a new paragraph by a few spaces -- then you'll get an unexpected result. (The system will try to display your indented paragraph in courier font in WYSIWYG mode, but with each following line of text tacked on to the right.)
  - You cannot indent the first line of a paragraph, but you can indent an entire block of text. Use : in position #1 to indent the block of text. Use :: in positions #1 and #2 to indent the block further.
4. There are a number of other mark-up commands that you'll find useful, but you don't have to know them to get started, e.g.:
- Italics
- Bold
- Numbered lists
  - Start the line with #
- Bulleted lists
  - Start the line with *
- Placing images on a page
- Creating sections within a page
  - Put == at the start and end of the section title.
