The Principality of Damirez is a massive, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.294 billion are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt, pro-business morass -- juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Defence, and Education. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 30%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Retail and Arms Manufacturing.

The police force is on a recruitment drive, scenic mountain valleys are flooded with water as damming projects get underway, citizens must pay to enjoy Damirez's pristine beaches, and the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a major problem. Damirez's national animal is the Kemono Musume, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Aureus.
