A Me'dece is for trying more serious crimes, up to ABH offences. Sexual offences, GBH and murder are all tried in a Gra'dece court.
Operation
A Me'dece can be found in every town of more than 50 000 people. It is operated by a judge who is more experienced than one in a Pe'dece, having:
- A Law qualification of ASL or higher.
- 10 years or more of experience in law.
- A clean criminal record.
The judge may hold a trial alone, but an offender can pled to be tried by a jury of 16 people, if he wishes. He can be appointed a state lawyer, or find one of his own.
