The Aureus is the name of the currency in both the nations of Damirez and Alfegos but there are obvious differences.

Alfegan Aureus

The Alfegan Aureus is the currency in use in Alfegos. It comes in a variety of demoninations, and is often confused with the Aureus used in Damirez, which has a different value and different notes and coinage.

History

Before 1827, the currency used in Alfegos was the Fego'da, which divided into 49 Mi'Fegos, which were then divided into 7 additional Si'Fegos. With the illogicity of this being finally recognised, the currency was scrapped in favour of the decimal Alfegan Aureus, which divided into 100 Throks (Þ).

Coppers

Bronze Alfegosian Coins

The copper coins used in Alfegos are for the denominations of Þ1, Þ2 and Þ5. These are made from copper-plated steel, with security marked rims and the same pattern on both sides. Due to the amount of prices being charged at Æ0.99, the Þ1 and Þ2 were removed from commercial use, so now are used very rarely. The design, which features the characters for "Fegos" and "Eternally", uses the traditional Fegosian counting method for labelling.

Silvers

While not made from silver now, these coins were originally made in silver. They are unusual in shape, being a rounded square in shape. The designs carried on the faces are:

  • Þ10 - A simple Fego Character
  • Þ20 - 7 stars in a circle
  • Þ50 - A palm tree

The design is the same on both sides. The motif around the edge in Fegosian reads: "The People's Republic of Alfegos - Eternally Victorious"
