  • Being trained gives a +5 bonus to that skill (or skill group, being trained in a skill group gives training benefit to all skills in the group).
  • Skill Focus adds a +5 bonus to a skill or skill group (instead of +3). A character must be trained in a skill to aquire focus in it.
  • In addition to this bonus, characters add their level to all trained skill modifiers, and (1/2 level, round down, minimum +0) as a bonus to all untrained skills.
  • Therefore, a character's modifier in a trained skill is equal to (level + ability modifier + 5 + 5 if focused) and rating in an untrained skill is equal to (1/2 level + ability modifier).
  • Thief levels count as 2 higher for determining skill bonus, however the Thief is trained in 10 + int skills, not 12.
  • Gaining a permanent int modifier increase grants additional trained skills as normal.
  • All skills can be used by any hero. Trained Only applies only to nonheroic characters.
  • A character can take another Knowledge area or Performance type as effectively trained at the rating of another knowledge by taking a -1 to that knowledge, up to a maximum of (5+level). Example - Trained in Knowledge (Arcana) with a 13 int modifier, Total at level 1 of +7; If the player so wished, they could have +6 total to Knowledge (Arcana) and Knowledge (Religion).
    • If prefered, a character may take Training again to have full rating in a Performance or Knowledge. Training in a skill group only gives one free Training to these skills.
  • A trait or other ability that grants "4 ranks in X skill at level 1, +1 per level after" instead grants the character training in that skill.
  • Speak Language is no longer a skill, Additional Languages is a feat that grants the character (1 + int mod, minimum 1) additional languages when taken and can be taken multiple times.
