An amusement park, founded several decades ago and maintained lo these many years in a monument to escapism. It's still a pretty fun place to spend a day, but there are some odd things going on there...

The Comet and the Whirligig

The two big attractions to people looking for thrills are the Comet roller coaster and a ride called the Whirligig.

The first ride has been around since the early 70s, and it shows - the wooden supports for the coaster are weathered, but they're still sturdy... The paint is peeling a bit on the carts for the coaster, and they're not the bright colors they once were after years of the most recent coat of paint fading in the sun. This coaster might not be quite as extreme as some of the newer and shinier things at your big name parks, but it's still four minutes of vertigo, fast turns and adrenaline. Recently, aficionados of the ride have noticed that there's a bit of a shake when the carts are being pulled toward the top of the first hill. The chain that pulls the carts is getting old, and probably just needs to be cleaned up - they wouldn't leave it running in unsafe condition...
