A chilotaur is a hideous cross of a large, monstrous centipede and a human. They prefer fighting with curved blades and are skilled archers. They prey on nearly any living creature and are skilled at hunting with either their poisonous bite or weapons.

Strategies and Tactics

A chilotaur will typically use its bite as its primary attack to take advantage of its paralyzing poison. Once it lands a successful bite, it will switch to a melee weapon and use its bite as a secondary attack.

Adventure Hooks

A chilotaur druid has declared war on a nearby logging camp that has begun deforesting his territory.

A ranger specializing in hunting monstrous vermin has come across a nesting ground of chilotaurs. He seeks help from adventurers in exterminating the population.

A group of chilotaur bandits have been attacking caravans in a narrow mountain pass. Soldiers have not been able to pursue them because their lair is high up a sheer cliff, where only a skilled group of PC explorers could possibly reach them.

Ecology and Society

Chilotaurs normally live in underground or tropical areas and usually keep to their own kind. They reproduce quickly and form large colonies, but they usually end up scattering from civil war. Two chilotaur colonies could war against each other for years. Chilotaurs have their own language that is a chittering combination of words and mandible clicks.

There is great variation in coloration of the centipede portion of a chilotaur's body. Colors range from dark reddish browns to bright, deep blues. The hair and eyes of the human portion usually matches the color of the rest of their body. The average adult chilotaur has a body length of 10 feet and weighs 900 pounds.
