All good points to think about.An intnreehly valuable currency, to me, means it will continue to hold value even if people decide at a later date to discontinue its use as money. Paper currencies, and electronic currencies like Bitcoin, lack any form of back-up value its only value comes from people using it in exchange. This is certainly value, but not inherent or redeemable value. Persons holding wealth in gold and silver would still hold value through its uses in jewellery and industry, if everyone decided against using the metals as currency. This is security and stability that cannot be achieved by currencies who's sole value is its usefulness in exchange.
