Storyline
This original fiction was more focused upon the combination of the Shinto religion and Japan's history throughout the ages of the Tokugawa Period.
A daughter of nobility attempts to live a normal, typical life, and she winds up suffering from everything except that. Her own best friend betrays her by piecing together a revolt to kill Japan's royal family. The man she's in love with happens to be the brother of her best friend. She's claimed to be the reincarnation of a goddess and is forced to live to those standards. And in the end, she becomes nothing more than a possession to men and her country. What seems like it should be a happy-ending story, really is nothing of the sort.
Other Notes
Makoto apologises beforehand, because this fiction is written terribly. It looks like something that should have come out of an American-made animation. That is precisely why it is currently undergoing a serious revision. At the time this was written, however, it was considered to be quite good. This is the first book that Makoto hopes to have published (although it is likely that it will actually come after What Lies beneath the Ground instead).
The ending is spoken of with great disapproval from most who have read it. Due to the amount of feedback Makoto received, she actually began to work on a sequel entitled The Complexion of One Wing.
Actual background information on the characters will come later.
