Tirius
From Lost Realm
Tirius, Relforsia is the base of Relforsia's trading empire, and the site of its most embarassing defeat.
History
Tirius was founded in the early days of Relforsia from many local villages around the mouth of a large bay on the eastern coast of the country. The city enjoyed huge growth for the blanks (decades? centuries? We need a central timeline, Raven!) that followed. Due to its easy access to the sea, the city became a natural port for many passing ships and it eventually grew to be one of the largest naval cities in the south, rivalling several mining city's in Orecrest in wealth.
During the early days of the Generational War, while Steel Fist was marching across and annexing Candrim and Moeris, the city closed its ports from Steel Fist merchants citing safety reasons though many of the merchants were honest business people. The government didn't want to risk it.
The Battle for Tirius
A severe lack of coordination and skill at Tirius proved to be a huge embarassment to the nation. The forces there were utterly destroyed by the Steel Fist onslaught.
Lack of communication on the part of the soldiers resulted in soldiers rushing into areas heavily fortifed by Steel Fist, breaking into buildings only to smash into their own forces swords. The naval commander there decided that rather than let the city fall to the Steel Fist, that it should be destroyed. He commanded the ships in his command to load massive spears onto spring loaded cannons on the ships and ordered an all fire on the coastal city. The damage was total. Relforsian troops in the city were killed by they're own ships as they nearly gained a foothold.
A lucky catapult shot from the Steel Fist took out the commanders ship and the remaining ships decided to quarantine the city, and hopefully cull Steel Fist ships from moving on to Orecrest. The city fell, and a large statue was forced out of a sculptur by several hardcore loyalists in the form of Lord Gauntlet. It was not military commissioned, but by soldiers who felt that Gauntlet should be always remembered as the conqueror of the Realm. The statue remains to this day, as city officials would much rather leave it. It's an important piece of history, no matter what it stands for.
Most of the forces in enemy captured areas were reported to fall back to help defend Arcis against a full invasion. A commander of one force refused, and moved his troops to Raeis, Orecrest, seat of his family's house. He was charged with Abandonment, but was later acquitted by the Council.
