Geography
- Relforsia is a nation on the on the south of the continent.
- Primarily on the Relfors Penninsula
- Bordered by the Moerisian and Orcrestian seas. Candrim to the north.
- Has two rivers, the Jerra and the Alstrom, named after two of the founding houses.
- Capitol city of Arcis is located on an island in a very large bay on the east coast of the nation.
- Primarily forest, with very large plains scattered around the nation. The northern border area is mostly plains.
- It has the 5th highest peak in the Lost Realm, Mt. Lekry.
Government
- The nation is a 5 party republic.
- The leadership is a 5 member council composed of members from the nation's political parties. The parties were named after 5 "houses" early in the nation's history, but evolved into more diverse groups. The parties are the Relfors, Raeis (has strong connections to the Raeis of Orecrest, Hendri, Alstrom, and Jerran.
- Each city or town in the nation has 1 represenative in the second tier of government, the Electorate.
- The Electorate is somewhat like the US Congress. They create laws and pass them to the Council for approval. They then vote whether or not to pass it.
- A 3-2 Council vote is required for passing domestic laws, a 4-1 is required for trade legislation, and a full majority is required for war.
- The Electorate and Council can also act as a court for major disputes. The Electorate acts like a jury and the Council is the judge and executioner. The electorate would vote Yay or Nay on whatever issue, and then the Council would deliberate on the verdict and punishment/reward.
- The Electorate does have the power to remove a Council member from office if it sees fit. However, this may only happen if they hvae the full approval of the other 4 council members. A new Council member is then voted in for that particular party and serves out the rest of the original term. They are then automatically in the next election, and may run if they choose.
- Elections are held every 6 years, with a 3 year difference between the Council and the Electorate. So, for example, the Electorate would be elected, 3 years later, the council. Then, three years later, it repeats.
- Relforsia has a very deep trust with Orecrest, being big trade partners, and for being allies in the war against Steel Fist. Therefore, the Advisor position has been created for an Orecrestian. They advise the government on what Orecrest thinks on a particular issue, trade, whatever. Of course, alot of information would be withheld on both sides.
Military
- Vast navy
- Small, underskilled army (after the war, anyways)
- Small Calvary. Mostly used to escort trade caravans.
- Relforsia did participate in the Deluge and what followed. They participated in the force that drove the Blood Spawn back to the mountains.
- When Steel Fist attacked, the army proved weak and inefficient. Much of the nation fell under Steel Fist control, except for a few key cities in the south and Arcis. The forces in the remaining cities would be key in driving back Steel Fist with allied help.
- A severe lack of coordination and skill at Tirius proved to be a huge embarassment to the nation. The forces there were utterly destroyed by the Steel Fist onslaught.
Lack of communication on the part of the soldiers resulted in soldiers rushing into areas heavily fortifed by Steel Fist, breaking into buildings only to smash into their own forces swords. The naval commander there decided that rather than let the city fall to the Steel Fist, that it should be destroyed. He commanded the ships in his command to load massive spears onto spring loaded cannons on the ships and ordered an all fire on the coastal city. The damage was total. Relforsian troops in the city were killed by they're own ships as they nearly gained a foothold.
A lucky catapult shot from the Steel Fist took out the commanders ship and the remaining ships decided to quarantine the city, and hopefully cull Steel Fist ships from moving on to Orecrest. The city fell, and a large statue was forced out of a sculptur in the form of Lord Gauntlet. It was not military commissioned, but by soldiers who felt that Gauntlet should be always remembered as the conqueror of Tirius. The statue remains to this day, as city officials would much rather leave it. It's an important piece of history, no matter what it stands for.
Most of the forces in enemy captured areas were reported to fall back to help defend Arcis against a full invasion. A commander of one force refused, and moved his troops to Raeis, Orecrest, seat of his family's house. He was charged with AWOL, but was later acquitted by the Council.
Trade
- Relforsia is hugely focused on trading. They haul goods all over the world and have made a huge market out of it.
- They're maincraft is woodworking. They mainly build ships, but have a decent sized furniture business as well.
- Arcis has a very large trading market, with vendors from all nations.
- The nation imports most of its stone for building, but refines it in country, for building. This has died down considerably since most of the rebuilding in the nation is done...except for Tirius. The city is still mostly in ruins.
Architecture
- Relforsian buildings are built out of an imported grayish-blue stone. The designs in the stone and diagonal based. The arches, door frames, and furniture are all rectangular based unlike most of the surrounding nations. The crenelations are diagonal/spike based.
- Inside, the buildings are woodframed with wood floors.
Holidays
- The Great Ship Race: Once a year, the country has a celebration on the first day of spring. It is a week long celebration and the people celebrate extensively. The main event of the celebration is the Great Ship Race, a race from the capital City to the mouth of the Goldwater; the river in the south of Orecrest, that's where Raeisil is, it's the seat of House Raeis. Galeneon Raeis bestows upon the racers a mark to prove that they have made it, and then sends them back to Relforsia.
- Founding: This holiday is celebrated every fall for the founding of Relforsia. Arcis is decorated with colored banners, has a large parade in which people let loose their inhibitions and party. The capitol building is turned into a dance hall, and the Council give speeches.
Towns and Cities
Arcis is the capitol of Relforsia and has the seats of the Electorate and the Council. It is located on an island off the west coast of the nation.
Tirius was once the largest trading city of Relforsia, but currently half of it lies in ruin from the war. Due to this, most of the nations trade is being rerouted to Arcis and this is cutting down on profits. Many citizens consider their city the sister city of Raeisil.
Lekry is a small city on the northern border of the nation and it is currently infested with the Blood Spawn who attacked it during the Deluge. It sits at the foot of Mt. Lekry.
